The Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is organizing the OCEANS'06 Asia Pacific IEEE - Singapore conference/exhibition, from 16 - 19 May 2006 at Swissotel The Stamford, Singapore.

The OCEANS conference is run annually in the USA, jointly by the IEEE and the Marine Technological Society (MTS). It has been running as far back as 1988 and specializes in the fields of Marine Technology, Ocean Sciences and Oceanic Engineering. The IEEE has decided to start offering the OCEANS conference not only in the USA every year, but also in Europe and Asia in alternate years. The first OCEANS ASIA was held in Kobe, Japan in 2004 and the following OCEANS ASIA will be held in Singapore in 2006. Oceans 2006 Asia is designed to be a premiere international conference that is of interest to the ocean community and aims to be the world's primary staging location for significant breakthroughs that will change the paradigm for future ocean sciences and marine technology operations.
